Helen moves away from a small Christian town to attend college. Helen has vowed to never return after being shamed and excommunicated after a rumor circulated about her.

 

Helen spends most of her life avoiding revisiting her town only to visit her family for the holidays. While living in Detroit, Helen converts to Islam and marries her husband, Khalil, without her parents knowing. Helen lives peacefully with her husband while coping with emotional trauma from her past.

 

However, Helen's family desires her to visit and encourages her to visit for Christmas while fasting for Ramadan. Helen is very reluctant to visit because she does not know how her family will react to her converting to Islam and getting married. Khalil convinces her that it will do her some good to face her demons during the holy month. Helen decides that it is best to go back and find the lost cost confidence she left in her home town after suffering emotional trauma.

Zulaika is an Iraqi woman living in the Al Kadhimiya district in Iraq. After being divorced and forced into poverty conditions, Zulaika meets Sheik Abdelnoor, a local religious leader who offers her the opportunity to make money through Muk’tah (temporary) marriage for money.

 

Shortly after excepting Sheik’s offer, Zulaika soon finds herself being prostituted to countless men. Asad is an American Muslim who goes on Hajj to find himself after going through a terrible divorce. Shortly after his pilgrimage, Asad travels to Iraq. While taking a taxi to a hotel, Asad saves Zulaika from jumping off the Al Aamah Bridge. Not long, Abdelnoor claiming to be her Wali (guardian), quickly whisk her away. Feeling obligated to check on Zulaika’s wellbeing, Asad decides to track her down.

 

 

After successfully locating Zulaika, Asad discovers the so-called religious leader has been trafficking Zulaika for profit. Asad decides to save Zulaika by marrying her and moving her to the U.S. Now Zulaika and Asad live in American, both attempting to adapt to their elope marriage lifestyle.

Three Muslim is a story about Muslim couples from Detroit, Michigan facing adversities; as they try to remain steadfast in their faith. However, their world becomes complicated as their life situations drastically change from their everyday life.

 

Jamaal and Nadeera are newly wedded and have a strong relationship. However, their marriage is soon tested. Nadeera's mother is a habitual instigator, and a meddler antagonizes Jamaal, as she believes that he is not good enough for her daughter. Moreover, Jamaal also encounters additional problems; when the new supervisor of his marketing firm; pursues him for a romantic relationship.

 

Aaliyah and Ibrahim are two Muslims who are engaged. After waiting two years to have a wedding, Ibrahim grows weary putting off the event for her career. When Aaliyah receives a job offer in Malaysia, she is conflicted between choosing Ibrahim or her life-changing job.

 

Ayeesha and Tasfir are two Muslims who have a romantic interest in each other. After they are engaged, their trouble soon begins. Ayeesha is a Muslim convert who struggles to get rid of an ex-boyfriend she broke up after newfound faith. Tafsir tries to teach his adolescent daughter lessons on morality; however, his ex-wife disagrees with his religious lifestyle.
